Lunch at Sassy C’s - Mckellips & Val Vista

Filed under: CateringRyan @ 10:55 am

Last Friday we went to Sassy C’s  on McKellips & Val Vista in Mesa for lunch.  Sassy C’s is located in the Citrus Heights - a local citrus stand that has been around longer than I’ve been here.   The place has the look of a typical citrus stand in the valley so to be honest I wasn’t expecting much from the food.  We walked in and the place is sparcely furnished and has the look of a startup restaurant.  The menu however looked pretty gourmet considering the surroundings.  I ordered the Turkey w/ cranberry aioli & havarti cheese on crusty baguette bread w/ lettuce tomato & onion. Our food came very quickly considering we arrived with easily twelve hungry people. The bread was very fresh, the cranberry aioli was good and overall the sandwich beat my expectations. The proprietors were very friendly and obviously took pride in their creations. My only advice for them would be to upgrade their atmosphere, which I bet they will after they become a little more successful. I would highly recommend having them cater your event as the food is outstanding even if the atmosphere there is a little lacking.

Filed under: Catering, Chandler, AZ, Deli, Scottsdale, Az, Take-outShay @ 7:52 am

In the past one of the few restaurants that we have all enjoyed has been Jason’s Deli. When the fine people (specifically Katherine East) at Jason’s Deli offered to deliver us catering how could we turn them down? (more…)

Catering by Jason’s Deli

Filed under: CateringRyan @ 4:23 pm

Last week we got our first request for a review from a restaurant, Jason’s Deli.  In September we visited Jason’s Deli on Stapley and Baseline in Mesa.  Katherine East who works for both the Ahwatukee (which I eat at frequently) and North Scottsdale location read our post and asked us to review their catering services!  To be honest we were all pretty surprised someone asked us to review their food as we give mostly negative reviews on the majority of places we visit.  Oddly enough we all liked Jason’s Deli for both its good food and value proposition.

Katherine came by the old Web-Op offices (or as we call it “the pigeon sanctuary”) and brought over a full spread.  There were a variety of croissant sandwiches, fresh baked brownies, cookies, delicious potato/pasta salads.  The croissants (croissandwiches?) were delicious, the brownies delicious, and the cookies were spectacular.  My favorite part of the whole meal was the tomato based pasta salad with mozzarella?  (I never actually saw a menu so I’m guessing)  As far as catering goes - the food was lighter, healthier, and better tasting than average.  If you are planning a company luncheon or other event which requires catering I highly recommend Jason’s Deli’s.
