Got Sushi: Follow Up

Filed under: Japanese, Mesa, AZJack @ 12:27 pm

For our last day in the office prior to Christmas, we decided to get some Japanese.  Our original plan was to visit Zushi, proving that we don’t learn from our mistakes easily, but they were shut, so we went across the road to Got Sushi.  We’ve already discussed them

Korean BBQ

Filed under: UncategorizedJack @ 5:19 pm

First Impressions

We arrived at Korean BBQ after being stymied by the unexpected out-of-business nature of the first restaurant we planned to visit today.  It’s buried deep in a shopping center, behind a Wallgreens, but is instantly identifiable with the large signs out front with pictures of meat and dumplings.

On the front door is a warning:  “Karaoke all day!”

Ned’s Krazy Sub

Filed under: Deli, Mesa, AZShay @ 1:55 pm

Today was another rather busy day in the office so when it came time for lunch the boss said he would run out and pick us up some sandwiches. When he asked for any recommendations I threw out Neds Krazy Subs. With out too much being said the boss headed out the door and we all continued our work. Shortly after the boss walked back into the office with two bags of sandwiches and some Jones Soda. (more…)

Cornish Pasty Company

Filed under: ASUTrevor @ 11:23 am

The Cornish Pasty Company is located right off hardy and university in Tempe.   The place has a college atmosphere with lots of drinking.  The main two things are beer and pasties.  I had never hear of a pasty before but soon realized that pasties are similar to a hot pocket or chicken pot pie. Cafe Mix

Filed under: Mediterranean, Mesa, AZShay @ 3:50 pm

The day before Thanksgiving everyone was buzzing around the office trying to finish up a big project before the long weekend. Not surprisingly we all decided to run out for a quick lunch, some place where we could run in, eat, and head out in a hurry. We went right down the street to the new Cafe Mix, a Greek restaurant on the corner of Greenfield and McKellips. (more…)

Cornish Pasty Company

Filed under: English, Tempe, AZShay @ 3:10 pm

Last Friday we all found our way down to Tempe for lunch at the Cornish Pasty Company on University and Hardy. I have been here a few times before but truth be told I’ve had mixed results every time. It seems like every time I’ve went the people with me either love it or hate it. Some people see pasties as over sized hot pockets while others see them the best thing since sliced bread. I’ve always been right down the middle, not overly thrilled about them yet never unsatisfied with one either. (more…)

Cornish Pasty Company

Filed under: English, Tempe, AZJack @ 6:16 pm

First Impressions

The Cornish Pasty Company is in that part of Tempe that is just outside the direct radius of ASU at Hardy and University.  The entire restaurant is about 3 metres wide and 15 deep, with a row of tiny two-person tables on one side, a dining counter on the other, and only one or two tables for a larger party.  The entire facility is done in black and red, and augmented with photographs of miners.  The claustrophobic surroundings, dim light, and depressing images hardly make for an upbeat environment.
