Papaya Thai

Filed under: Mesa, AZ, ThaiShay @ 11:14 am

I have been out to Papaya Thai once before and was relatively pleased, so last week when I heard that we were going there for lunch I was alright with that. I wasn’t particularly excited as I wasn’t completely in the mood for Thai food however I can never turn down a free meal.

Papaya Thai is very similar to any other Thai food restaurant out there. They all come with an awkward ambiance of  Thai decorations and unusual place settings. Instead of booths there are love seat like straw couches. In the corner there was a television playing a kung fu movie in another language. To say the least the place is a little out of the ordinary, as are most Thai food restaurants.

Deciding what to eat was rather difficult, at least for me. I couldn’t tell what half the things are on the menu were and on a last resort I choose the one thing that sounds rather familiar, the Pad Thai. I’m not a huge fan of Pad Thai but I wasn’t feeling adventurous enough to just make a stab in the dark at another dish. I got the Pad Thai with chicken and it came with stir-fried rice noodles tossed with ground peanuts, bean sprouts, and egg. Altogether the dish had a slimy texture however overall tasted pretty good. A few other diners mentioned how they hate Pad Thai and won’t get anywhere close to it however I don’t mind it, and every now and then prefer the Pad Thai.

The service and hospitality at Papaya Thai has always been outstanding. After you get past a tiny language barrier everything is grade A. There staff does there very best to make you feel comfortable and at home, continuously looking after you and taking care of your every need.

Over all I would have to say that Papaya Thai is probably one of my favorite Thai food restaurants out there. Truth be told this is a fairly easy accomplishment seeing as how I haven’t been to an array of Thai food restaurants however the honor does come with respect and gratitude.
